Jo Ellen Ammons was born August 17, 1947 in Brewton, Alabama where she grew up in a small community. She is the daughter of the late Ned and Wilor Mae Ammons. Jo Ellen is the youngest of six children.
Jo Ellen Ammons attended elementary school at the Brewton City School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1965. Jo Ellen, in the same year moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she completed training at the Career Training Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She is a graduate of Austin Peay State University and has been employed there as a Library Assistant for the past 18 years. She received her Para-Professional Certification in Library Science from the University of Kentucky in 2007.
Jo Ellen Ammons married Willie J. Freeman in 1968; they have two daughters, Donna and Sonya; two son-in-laws, Joe hardy (Donna) and Silas Sessions (Sonya); three adorable grandsons, Nathan, isaiah and Silas, Jr. and one beautiful granddaughter, Kristen.
Jo Ellen accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1970 under the leadership of the late Pastor R.A. Abercrombie at the Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church of Killeen, Texas.
Jo Ellen is presently a member of the Greater Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her husband, Pastor Willie J. Freeman. Her suport is unfailing and exceptional. She provides leadership for the following ministries: Ministers, Deacons and Trustees Wives, Kitchen Ministry, Women's Quarterly Breakfast and the Decorating Committee. Jo Ellen also provides support to the Because We Care Ministry, Women Reaching Women and Mid-Week Bible Study and Family Prayer.
