Pastor Willie J. Freeman was born on the 5th of February, 1946 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he also spent his childhood years. He is the son of the late John and Lillie Mae Freeman. Freeman attended Dillard Elementary and High Schools in Fort Lauderdale and received his high school diploma from Big Ben Community College of Chicago.
December 7th, 1965, Freeman was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably for 21 years, retiring at the rank of 1st Sergeant. During his enlisted time, Freeman served two tours in Vietnam in 1966-67 and 1969-70. Freeman’s highest military honor was the Bronze Star; and while serving in Vietnam, Freeman committed his life to Christ and was baptized. Under the leadership of the late Pastor R.A. Abercrombie, Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church, Killeen, Texas, Freeman accepted his calling into the Gospel ministry in 1972. Reverend Freeman was ordained under the leadership of the then Pastor Jimmy Terry, Sr. of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee and the current pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee. Reverend Freeman has served as a Pastor, Missionary and in numerous areas of church work for over 32 years. After retiring from the United States Army, Pastor Freeman enrolled at the American Baptist College of Nashville, Tennessee, where he spent four demanding years. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, as a member of the National Honor Society and is listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Pastor Freeman is actively involved in many community organizations and affairs. Pastor Freeman is married to the former Jo Ellen Ammons for 38 years and share two daughters, Donna and Sonya, son-in-laws, Joe Hardy (married to Donna), Silas Jermaine Session (married to Sonya), and three grandsons, Nathan, Isaiah and Silas Jr. Pastor Willie J. Freeman is presently serving as the proud Pastor of the Greater Missionary Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee, where he has served faithfully for 13 years.
