Chosen Vessels The man after God's own Heart

In Acts 13:22 God speaks of David as a man after His own heart. This adds strength to what is perhaps the most notable account of praise dance in the Bible, that of David, at the time when after a period of about 20 years, the Ark of the Covenant, was returned to Jerusalem. It had been taken by the Philistines those years before when they defeated the Jews in battle. 1 Samuel 4:10-22.

Because of circumstances which you can read about in 1 Samuel 5:1-12; 6:1-21; 7:1-2, the Philistines returned the Ark to the Jews after 7 months, but it was relegated to an obscure village where it remained for the 20 years.

The Ark was for the Jews, the symbol of God's holy presence, and when David was raised up as king, he made the decision to return it from the village of Kiriath-jearim, to Jerusalem. 1 Chronicles 13:2, 3.

In 2 Samuel 6:1-12, we read of the progress of this decision. It was delayed for 3 months,, but at last, as it was approaching Jerusalem, we are told that David the king, was dancing before the Lord with all his might. 2 Samuel 6:14-15.

We read further, that Davids wife Michal saw him 'leaping and dancing before the Lord,' and despised him for it. 2 Samuel 6:16. She came out and challenged David on his 'behavior'. David's response was that he was DOING IT FOR GOD, which for him was all that was important. 2 Samuel 6:20. 2 Samuel 6:21 NASB.

The next verse then tells us that Michal was barren for the rest of her life, 2 Samuel 6:23. The 'therefore', at the beginning of the sentence indicates that it was because she despised something which God had condoned, that she remained childless.
