Like the Phoenix of old, Praise Dance has risen from the ashes!
This introduction to 'Praise dance' will show us that dance, which is a universal expression of happiness, joy and pleasure, is no longer the exclusive domain of the nightclubs, ballroom dance floors and academies. More and more in recent years we have seen a resurgence of this biblical demonstration of praise, in church groups, christian groups and amongst christian individuals worldwide.
Praise dance is a powerful form of prophetic praise, having it's roots in the deliverance of the early Israelites from the bondage and captivity of Egypt. Exodus 15:20-21.
When I say it had it's roots there, that is the first expression in the scriptures of praise by dancing. That expression however, originated in the heart of God. Zephaniah 3:17.
In the last part of that verse, we read '..He will rejoice over you with singing'. The Hebrew word for rejoice, phonetically pronounced (gheel, gool, gîyl, gûl, means: to spin around under the influence of any violent emotion. Isn't that amazing, God dancing and singing for joy over us?
Many other scriptural examples, along with divine exhortations to do it, establish for us the biblical affirmation of dance as a God endorsed expression of worship and praise.
1 Samuel 18:6. Psalm 30:11; 149:3; 150:4. Jeremiah 31:4, 13.
