Making Christ the Focus of Evangelism
Essential ingredients for successfully leading a person to Christ
Make sure you have only one purpose– leading a people to Christ is leading people to Christ. It is not teaching about the latest Christian Fad and it is not telling them all the ways in which you think their life need to change. ALWAYS focus on your one main objective; leading the person to Christ and leave the indoctrination to the pastors.
Speak to the person’s heart and not to their appearance– If you are not careful, you will treat people differently just based on their appearance. Discipline yourself to see the need and not what is on the surface. Witnessing is sharing Christ, not your religious conviction but Christ.
Be continuously Filled with the Spirit– The Bible encourages us to “be filled with the Spirit,” Eph 5:18. Witnessing for Jesus requires us to be filled with His Spirit first. Witnessing requires us to be directed by the Spirit of God as where to go, what to do, and what to say. You can’t be effective as you could be for God if you are not filled and under His control. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is designed to give you power in witnessing and victory in living.
LEADING TO A COMMITMENT
Transition Question: Does what we have been discussing make sense to you?
Willingness Question: Is there any reason why you wouldn't 't want to receive Christ?
Commitment Question: Are you willing to turn from your sin and trust in Christ as Savior and
Lord right now?
Commitment Prayer:
Dear God, I admit that I am a sinner and that I need you. I believe that Jesus is the only Son and that he died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. He is the Lord of all. Right now as best I know how, I place my trust in Him as my Savior and Lord. I ask you to come into my life and forgive my sin. I want to receive your gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Thank you for hearing my prayer and saving me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
