Don't Be Anxious
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? (for after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. Mattthew 6:31-32 (KJV)
The problem with worry is that it causes us to start saying:"What are we going to have to eat? What are we going to have to drink? What are we going to have to wear?" In other words, "What are we going to do if God doesn't come through for us?"
Instead of calming our fears and removing our worries, we begin to fret and fuss with the words of our mouth, which only makes them even more deeply ingrained.
The problem with this way of doing things is that it is the way people act who don't know they have a heavenly Father, so we need to act like it.
Jesus assures us that our heavenly Father knows all our needs before we ask Him. So why should we worry about them? Instead, we need to focus our attention on the things that are much more important- the things of God.
